WHAT’S YOUR DREAM UNIVERSITY?

Many universities have their own qualities that students loved and look forward to.

Some have dreams of it while they are still young, wanting to be an Iskolar ng Bayan. Some want to be part of the Green Archers, or those who are in love with the roaring Yellow Tigers, and others have been eyeing the Blue Eagles. Have you ever dreamed of your own university?

The ranking of universities in the Philippines in 2026 from EduRank includes: University of the Philippines Diliman — Rank 1, De La Salle University — Rank 2, Ateneo de Manila University — Rank 3, University of Santo Tomas — Rank 4, University of the Philippines Los Baños — Rank 5, University of the Philippines Manila — Rank 6.

University rankings are based on different factors, depending on the organization conducting the ranking. The chrat above highlights their acceptance rate, but points mainly can include academic reputation, research, citations, international outlook, teaching, and other measures of university performance. But despite the rankings of universities, we have our own institutions that always shape our journey.

HOW WE UNFOLD DIFFERENT JOURNEYS IN UNIVERSITY

Many would risk everything just to get into their dream universities. Their most anticipated college life is inside the university where they will spend many years. And it’s amazing to see people have their earliest aspirations and want to start their journey by getting into the university they have dreamed of. Well, a dream university could always affect how we see our future.

Sometimes, it’s the only motivation we have. Where our daily aesthetics can come from, where our love stories can start, or where our favorite spots can appear, the favorite miryenda to have, or where our environment shapes our whole day— some things that can make college life more bearable.

A university can become more than just a place where we study.

It can be the place we have imagined ourselves being in for years. The place where we picture our first day, our first friends, our first achievements, and even the person we might become. That is why getting into a dream university can mean so much to someone. It is not just about entering a school. Sometimes, it feels like finally reaching the life we have always imagined for ourselves.

WHEN THE DREAM UNIVERSITY DOESN’T HAPPEN

But does not having a dream university means life will come differently for you? What do you do when you don’t get into the dream university you wanted?

Well, it will always be our greatest multo. It can haunt us.

Maybe we find ourselves contemplating between a dream course and a dream school, the distance from home, the budget, and everything else that comes with making that decision. There are so many things that can stand between us and the university we dream of.

.And when that happens, it can feel like everything we imagined for ourselves suddenly has to change.

But I hope everyone would still have their own story, even in our different schools. In case you fail to get in, don’t let the dream place change your whole course of years and your journey. Don’t let one rejection make you believe that the future you wanted is no longer possible.

Because sometimes, the university we dreamed of is not the university where our story is meant to happen. It is still up to us and the people we encounter along the way. The friends we make, the experiences we have, the struggles we overcome, and the memories we create can still make the place we ended up in meaningful.
