I would be amaze of people that can enter a university and say to themselves, “I will leave with everything going with my plan.” And if someone can, like probably Nanno from “Girl from Nowhere” series, then that’s amazing– to achieve that perfect run of your student days. But how do you even define a perfect student life?

Does a perfect student life means you get all perfect in exam scores? You have no missing activities? Or you being famous to the students? Or you have all the student org events successful? Does life without dents means being an achiever or being the significant one in everything? Or is every achievement just have its difference with failures.

and this failures desrves its own spotlights.

FAILED EXPECTATIONS WOULD ALWAYS COME TO YOU

While many would look forward to an ideal school year, the battle in the field of completing education won’t always be easy. Sometimes, what we thought would be our journey would always have its plot twist.

Sometimes, even our greatest expectation would turn out different. It could be your most anticipated course, your dream school, or the people around you that would disappoint you. Until even the least thing you’d hoped for would find you in different way.

That’s why “expectations vs. reality” is always around the corner, because even if it’s just the start of the journey, some things won’t just be really easy to accept.

When reality hits us, we would just realize that expectations and things don’t always go our way.

Have we all come to a point of “I didn’t know I’d end up like this” with our scores, that our transpo fare is higher than it is, or the exams that we don’t want to look at anymore, and the mighty expectations of professors that believe in us

We may have come to the point of swearing our heart out for the failed .5 points to pass, for the deadlines we missed, for the subject we failed, or for the scholarship we didn’t get.

And that’s just part of the journey.

DENTS MEANS IT DIDN’T COMPLETELY SHATTER

The years of studying won’t always be the same for everyone. If someone would do it the way they can, doesn’t mean it will also be the same for you.

We might then wonder, how can we avoid these dents? These dents of failures and disappointments?

We can. But doesn’t mean we always can.

Sometimes, even at our hardest preparation, we don’t always get what we want.

These dents might hurt us, but what we can do is to not let it completely shatter us. Because dents are just the proof of our hardships in this student life.

It’s how we show up despite the lack of sleep, the missed class, how we show up after we just failed to get what we’ve been wishing for.

It’s the scratches from our dedication.

So we may not get the perfect journey that one would always want, but we can make it the best even with how many things that would hurt us along our way.

We are studying to learn, and even learning in the hardest way. We don’t have to figure all things out at this time. We have a long way on us towards our success and it goes along with disappointments and heartbreak.

And all I wish is for us to not have the dents from amount of much pressure from the one who’d get it themselves.

It doesn’t always have to be perfect or the best, you just have to learn, keep it, and make it part of inspiration for you to how you will continue the journey. Because dents are not always meant to be fixed, and that’s okay.
